The Office of Self Sufficiency, which is part of the Oregon Department of Human Services, is looking for talented individuals to serve as a Family Coach.
In this role you will monitor progress and needs and make necessary modification to the family's case plan.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
The goal of the Self-Sufficiency Program is to help families address barriers, and gain skills and access to employment opportunities to become self-sufficient.
TANF is a collection of programs directed at improving the lives of very low-income Oregon families with children.
Job Opportunity and Basic Skills (JOBS) program.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
In this position you will conduct Interviews participant to determine family need and eligibility.
Explores alternate resources and links clients to community services.
Completes program application for program benefits and, if eligible, issues appropriate support payments.
Engages clients in family evaluation of strengths.
Jointly develops a case plan and identifies the steps the family will take toward self-sufficiency.
Guides continued job search activities.
You will assess initial applicants, their family situation, and on-going participants to develop, coordinate, and arrange a variety of services to assist and guide families to become self-sufficient while helping them to meet their basic needs.
Monitors progress, needs, and makes necessary modifications to the family's case plan.
Coordinates case management functions with other service providers.
Initiates and participates in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, supported job search as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position is fast paced.
High volume of individual and family contact.
You will be exposed to a diverse range of customers and will need to respond with compassion and professionalism.
You will have contact with a range of people including some who may be frustrated.
Employee's work is conducted in offices, participant's homes, and other community sites.
Hours of work may vary from day to day and may include evenings and weekends.
Overtime may be required.
Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
If no driver's license, must be able to provide alternate method of transportation.
Some overnight travel may be required to attend statewide meetings and training.

A Bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field; OR A Bachelor's degree in any field and one year of human services related experience (i.
e.
, work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing); OR An Associate degree in a Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience (i.
e.
, work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing); OR Three years of human services related experience (i.
e.
, work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, inadequate housing).

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Family focus - Knowledge of community resources serving the needs of diverse populations.
Decision making - Knowledge of delivering casework services to individuals, families, and groups.
Attention to detail - Knowledge of accepted casework methods and techniques (including information/referral, assessment, interviewing, patient/client advocacy, resource utilization).
Verbal/Written communication - Skill in communicating effectively, on a one-to-one basis and in groups, to provide information and advice or give assistance.
Active listening skills -Skill in facilitating conflict resolution and dealing with people who may be experiencing trauma or frustrated.
Organizational skill - Skill in organizing and putting work in priority order.
Conflict Resolution - Reads situations quickly and deals effectively.
Steps up to conflicts and sees them as opportunities.
Finds common ground and gets cooperation without disruption to workflows or interpersonal relationships.
Knowledge of Strengths-Based Case Management.
Experience conducting home visits.
Experience with teamwork and staffing collaboratively with community partners and families.
Experience with Holistic Family Assessment and strong problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to multi task.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
